The Gospel Project team is always looking at ways to make the content and experience of our studies even better. We are excited that our newest adult study, The Story of God’s Kingdom, has some important updates. Here is a list of these changes!
- Believing that transformation occurs best in the context of community, we have chosen to emphasize the group experience of The Gospel Project. To this end, we have removed the devotions in order to maximize the primary content. We still strongly encourage group members to read ahead of a group meeting and come prepared to discuss together the truth of God’s Word.
- Response spaces have been added so that the user can reflect and write answers to questions either before or during the group meeting. This helps the Personal Study Guide become more of a journal for personal reflection and for capturing the wisdom that comes from others in your group. Perhaps you will look back at your guide some years from now and see evidence of how God has grown you in wisdom, knowledge, and faith in Christ through experiencing the grand Story of Scripture.
- We’ve also added occasional features than can be used as small group interactives in the group. Not everyone is comfortable in large groups, but with the pressure off in smaller groups, more people will have the opportunity to express how God has worked and is working in their lives. These interactive features will allow people to grow more comfortable with one another and get to know one another; people with different learning styles will be engaged—all with the hope and expectation of transformation.
- The Gospel Project aims not to fill our heads with theological truth but to fuel our hearts with passion to join God on His mission to bring people to Himself. So, each session in the Personal Study Guide now concludes with “His Mission, Your Mission” to help groups respond as missionaries. Specifically, “Live on Mission” provides mission-oriented questions and directions related to each point in the lesson. These will help your group apply the truths they have learned in ways appropriate for your context. Telling the story of the Bible is impossible without leading to mission, as the gospel reveals the heart of our missionary God and His desire to save people of every tribe, tongue, and nation.
Our prayer is that these changes enhance the overall experience and impact of the sessions in The Gospel Project for Adults. Let us know what you think and experience so we can continue to improve for the glory of our great God and Savior!
