Great lesson today- deeper than first two. I am excited about teaching. I pray Alabama Baptist does not release any more negative articles on Gospel Project and its lean to Calvism. Let us just get in God’s Word and not get confused by issues which can not be definitively answered. I am also enjoying the additional resources for each session. Will you post any more leader tips? I saw the one on session 3 after I taught this morning. Also keep using quotes from our spiritual giants such as W>A Criswell, Hershel Hobbs, and others. THANKS
This video is very good. Thank you. I do want to say though that I disagree with the teaching in the book that we “display a lack of confidence in the Scriptures by looking elsewhere for authentication.” When I was an unbeliever I didn’t like the idea of believing a book was truth just because it said so and now that I’m a believer I like it even less. Because any book can say it is true and that doesn’t mean that it is. The Koran and the book of Mormon both say they are true. God has given us brains to be able to discern the evidence to make a rational, logical decision. That doesn’t take a way from our faith we have in Him. God has given us solid evidence to stand on that confirms that this book we believe in truly is the word of God. If we don’t tell others of that evidence, then we are asking them to be like the Mormon woman I talked to. I pointed out to her that there is absolutely no evidence that anything Joseph Smith said was true. If there was a big battle in New York State, surely there would be some artifact left behind to confirm that. She didn’t care what I said. She said that Joseph Smith was a good man and he was correct and nothing I ever said would dissuade her of that. That is insane. We are not using the powers of reasoning and logic that God has given us if we do not recognize that if something is true there will be evidence to prove it. We have the evidence of fulfilled prophecy, archaeology, confirmed history, confirmed science, and confirmed locations. With that much evidence, it is logical to believe when the words in the Bible say that it is true. It becomes logical to believe that they WERE written by God and that God and His word can be trusted. If people leave logic out of their discernment, they are susceptible to being swayed by a cult. We need to learn these truths that God has given us, so that we can teach them to others as we witness. It builds our own faith and is convincing to the nonbelievers who are being drawn to God.
