When should I start The Gospel Project for Kids?
Some of you have already started using The Gospel Project, and some of you will begin in September or later in the Fall. We’re really thankful for the flexibility of the material to allow churches to start whenever is best for them.
If you’re looking for some guidance about which lessons to use each week, we’ve put together several downloadable calendars to help guide you, no matter when you begin your Fall quarter!

Not starting until January 2013?

Sorry, but I can’t find anywhere else on the site to ask a question. Yesterday I saw a resource on the site that was a document for labels for the classes where you could write the child’s name and parent’s names on them I guess for checking the kids in and out each week. Now I cannot find it anywhere. Can you provide the link to that resource? Thanks so much!
Hey Philip! I don’t think we’ve posted anything like that, but it would be a great idea to use Avery labels as part of a check-in system each week. Feel free to use any of the logos available under “Additional Resources” on the Kids page to make the labels look kid-friendly!
Philip– I was wrong! I was looking through MyCurriculum Manager, which you have access to if you’ve got the digital materials and found the Avery label template under Unit One Support Materials!
Will it be easy to start from the beginning in fall of 2013 as well?
You bet, Jenny! You will be able to get the digital version or an undated print version at that time.
In the training materials it says that the Gospel is explicitly presented once per quarter. Do you know the Units/Sessions where that occurs? Thanks!
Hey Erin! Actually, the gospel plan is in there every week so that a church can share it as often as they like.
What level should I get for 5th-8th graders? (Older Kids or Students)
Hey Kelly– Like Todd, take a look at the student materials. We will also be providing additional resources each week on teaching The Gospel Project for Students to middle schoolers!
What Gospel Project curriculum would you recommend for Middle School age kids (12-14yr old)? Thanks
Hey Todd– take a look at the student materials. We will also be providing additional resources each week on the blog, aimed at teaching the student materials to middle schoolers!
I love the look of everything I’ve seen so far (the sample month of downloads, the apps and the starter kit at Lifeway stores). Our church is not likely to use it as Sunday School material, but I’m very interested in using it at home. I’d love to see future offerings designed for homeschool use: smaller, more economical packages in the future!
I’m considering ordering the ebook leader guide and 2 kids’ activity packs (and possibly the timeline – it looks amazing!) to see if we can adapt it for home use. Any other ‘must have’ pieces I should consider? Thanks so much for an amazing product to help inspire a love for the metanarrative of Gospel throughout the Word!
Thanks, Amy! That sounds like a great place to start! Let us know if you have any questions as you look through everything!
I have purchased The Gospel Project literature for Adults through preschool for the quarter. I am beginning to go through the various age groups and am finding that the children and preschool and children’s materials are not the same scriptures/topics as the student and adult materials. I understood that all ages would be looking at the same scripture content each week. Did I misunderstand?
Hey Charlie– sorry for the misunderstanding. Preschool/Kids are on the same chronological scope and sequence and student/adults are on the same scope and sequence as one another (that’s different from the kids).
I have the digital download for the preschool/children curriculum but cannot find the time line file to print the large time line. Where would I locate these?
Hey Amber– the timeline is a separate, one time purchase. We have it available digitally as well, or in a pre-printed version here.
My questions don’t really follow the topic of this blog, but I don’t know where else to ask them. Is there a forum where we could ask questions and interact with others who are using this material? How can I find more comments and discussion especially related to preschool?
We have lots of comments and dialogue from users on our Facebook page– http://facebook.com/thegopspelproject Feel free to join us!
I think the link is spelled incorrectly.
Will Lifeway.com/extra be providing extra helps for The Gospel Project?
Justin, what kind of helps are you looking for? We have training videos, sermons, lesson-by-lesson videos for adult leaders, and a few other things. Let me know what you’re looking for and I’ll point you in the right direction.
I would just like whatever helps are being made available to be on the lifeway.com/extra page so that I can direct my teachers (whether they be children teachers using the gospel project, preschool teachers using Bible teaching for kids, or adult classes using explore the Bible) to one website for additional resources.
Chatting with our LifeWay.com folks– will let you know if I hear anything!
I have purchased the gospel project for kids, and am wondering if there is a scope of the key verses for the 3 years, or even the next year? This would be very helpful.
Thanks, Jamie
Jamie– take a look on the Kids page; scroll down to the bottom and you should find a link under “Additional Information” labeled “Three Year Teaching Plan”
The key verses are not on there…any other places to look?
Jamie, here is a list of the key passages for the first year. We have not developed any beyond that.
Unit 1: Genesis 1:27
Unit 2: Genesis 17:7
Unit 3: Genesis 28:15
Unit 4: Luke 2:10-11 (Christmas)
Unit 5: Exodus 6:7
Unit 6: Exodus 20:1-17
Unit 7: Luke 24:46-47 (Easter)
Unit 8: Joshua 24:15
Unit 9: Judges 2:18
Unit 10: 1 Samuel 2:35
Unit 11: Psalm 51:10
Unit 12: 1 Kings 8:61
Thanks!
Our church wanted to start in December of 2012. The question we have is this: Do we need to order volume 1 and volume 2 in order to have the Christmas lessons for December? With that in mind, we also realize that we would then need volume 3 in order to get the Easter lessons. Is there any way around having to order three quarters worth of material in a matter of two months?
Thanks,
Andy
The Christmas and Easter lessons will be available as a free download from our website, if you’d like to hold off on ordering those additional volumes!
Awesome! Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly
When will the Christmas & Easter downloads be available?
Hey Ruth Ann! Christmas is already available for download. Click on the Kids page and then follow the link on the right-hand side of the page that says “Start “In the Beginning”– you’ll find the Christmas download at the bottom of that page.
The one posted where you recommend only has the one lesson for Christmas, not the entire unit of 3 lessons. To do all 3, I’ll have to purchase that 2nd quarter initially as well, correct?
Correct, Brian.
Where do I find the Easter 2013 session? We started January 2013 and the calendar for starting then shows Easter this year using an online session. I can’t seem to find it. Please help
Rachael, you can find theme here: http://gospelproject.com/kids/start-in-the-beginning
Thank you! Now that I have those, I have another question – There are 3 sessions provided but the January 2013 schedule only shows Easter Sunday using an online session. Do I not use Session 1 and 3? I want to make sure I am following the schedule so that we don’t miss out on a session. Thanks!
Check out the short-term use guides on that same page, Rachel. It’ll help you break down when to do each unit. Let me know if that doesn’t help!
I did that and clicked on the January 2013 link and the document shows 3/31/13 “Online Session” with Unit 3 Session 4 the week before and Session 5 the week after. Then looking to the following year, it shows using the three sessions you guided me to originally. So I guess I can follow the guide and use the U7S2 for this year only? I just thought it was strange that a specific session wasn’t assigned to March 31st.
I, too, have questions about March 31, if you don’t mind explaining again. We will begin Unit 5, Session 1 on March 10. There are 3 sessions on the Easter Story that will conclude March 24. On you website I found and printed a schedule that lists “Online Session” for March 31. How can I get this Online Session?
You can find the lessons at http://gospelproject.com/kids/start-in-the-beginning
